Earl Weaver is not dead!

Earl Weaver insists he’s not dead

Earl Weaver is not dead. We know this because he says so.

This is contrary to a political column in the New York Times on Saturday, which referred to Weaver in the past tense. “Texas Democrats have become the Baltimore Orioles of politics,” wrote Ross Ramsey. “Somewhere in heaven, Earl Weaver and Ann Richards are comparing notes on what went wrong with the teams they left behind.”

Mike Klingaman of the Baltimore Sun called Weaver, 80, at his home in Florida to notify him of the bad news:

“I’ll be damned,” said the Hall of Famer, who managed the Orioles to four American League pennants and a World Series title. “All I can do is say, that’s false.

“I’m still here, although my knees have given out, so I don’t play golf anymore. I’ve always said that there were two places that I wouldn’t mind dying. One was Memorial Stadium; the other, the golf course.

“Now I’ve got to wait forever [to go], because both of those places are gone.”

A New Day

What a change. With the end of the Big N came the return of smiling faces and friendly neighbors. Our local 7 Star was open for a cup of coffee, cake and a few needed items, Savage Guilford Road was cleared and my plan of attacking the snow on the front walk during the storm worked out. WHAT A DAY!

All Snowed In Savage Mess!

One thing that I have noted in all this is that people who are usually kind and friendly folks have turned into edgy  ones. They seem to be jealous of  and criticize others who care to get outside and help out, where help is needed. I guess that's just human nature.
I think that they should take time to look into the mirror before blurting out.

Another storm...I need a break!

The end of January brought another white dumping.
At first it didn't look like very much white stuff.

As the day went on, it turned into a real mess.

Sunday, I was ready for the big meltdown and a rest in the sun.
Guess that's why they call it "SUNDAY".
